Emotional Freedom Techniques

Evidence Based Emotional Freedom Techniques (EB-EFT) is a brief self-applied stress reduction technique using elements of exposure and cognitive therapy, with physical stimulation of acupuncture points. It is often referred to as ‘Tapping’ as it uses a two-finger tapping process on known acupuncture points.

With over 100 outcome studies completed, there is a growing body of evidence of the effectiveness that EFT has in treating a range of presenting issues such as phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, depression, chronic pain conditions, weight loss/food cravings and broader emotional regulation.

About Erin

Erin has practiced as a registered clinical psychologist in Melbourne Australia for over 15 years, working with children, young people and adults for a broad range of social, emotional, behavioural and cognitive presenting issues.

Erin has worked in a range of senior psychology roles across public mental health services in Australia and New Zealand, as well as within the private sector. Over this time, Erin has continued to extend her tool kit of evidence-based approaches that she offers while holding space and walking alongside individuals as they heal and engage in their personal development.  Erin is also passionate about providing clinical supervision services to other clinicians and practitioners.

Erin has gained appreciation for the effectiveness of therapeutic approaches that incorporate breathwork, meditation, mindfulness and somatic-based techniques to support the movement of trauma and emotion through the body.

She has learned that these somatic-based components are often effective in calming conditioned nervous system responses we can carry with us from past trauma and challenging life experiences. This has led Erin to pursue further training in Evidence-based Emotional Freedom Techniques (EB-EFT), often referred to as ‘Tapping’. EB-EFT is a brief self-applied stress reduction technique using elements of exposure and cognitive therapy, with physical stimulation of acupuncture points. When an individual’s physiological stress response reduces and they feel safer and calmer within themselves and in their surrounds, it is often possible to think more clearly and make steady progress on a range of presenting issues.

As a complimentary service, Erin has also completed training in Sound of Being Journeyfacilitation, with Sound Healing Australia. This approach offers a combination of meditation, breathwork and sound healing, using the organic world of sound and vibration to support more self-directed inner contemplation, self-enquiry and returning to a state of emotional, physical and energetic balance.

The external sounds from a range of instruments are used to entrain brainwaves to a Theta state, supporting coming quickly into a state of deep relaxation, nourishing the nervous system. Other benefits of sound healing modalities include the reduction of physical signs of stress in the body, supporting physical health.  Natural oscillating sound vibration supports the integration of left and right brain hemisphere functioning, which can help with more focused, clear thinking and improved emotional regulation.

Erin serves as a bridge to offer clients access to a unique combination of holistic services tailored to best suit their individual needs. Her vision is to contribute to a thriving, collaborative community that fosters holistic wellbeing.
